Below are the four ways you can give to Westcity Church

Our Regular Giving Philosophy

We agree that the Bible teaches us to give to the poor, to share with each other for all we need as a church community and to support those whose work is within the church. So the people at Westcity give regularly, via recurring weekly or monthly on-line bank transfers.

The amount we give may differ, but we come together and contribute what we can. We present a budget each year outlining where the finances are going to be spent and report regularly on this via our Town Hall Meetings during our Sunday services. You can listen HERE on ‘Why Give’ to our church.

2. Common Purse Giving 

Below are the two ways you can give to our Common Purse 2026

Fundraising Platform Online 

You can make your on-line tax deductible donation HERE for the Common Purse 2026 offering, via our fundraising platform. You can donate anytime (your tax receipt will be emailed to you for the current financial year by our governance partner Global Development Group). Please donate by June 28, 2026, to receive a tax receipt for the current financial year.

Cash

Place cash in an envelope and include these details: ‘Common Purse Donation – Your full name – Your email and mobile’. We can then email you a tax receipt. Place your envelope in the offering bags passed around during the Sunday service or in the silver giving box, at the back of the chapel.

COMMOM PURSE 2026

 

We have a vision for our church mission finances “That no one is in need.” This idea is taken from the book of Acts where the first Jesus community shared what they had as a radical act of self-giving love and as a sign that God’s new creation had begun in them and they wanted to be a witness to it.

So once a year in June, we take up a ‘Common Purse’ offering that then is redistributed to those in need, one of two ways.

1. Locally – to support those within the Westcity community, and their neighbours, who are in a financial crisis. We provide urgent and temporary provision of emergency aid to reduce immediate suffering from crisis.
2. Globally – Financial and prayer support is provided to projects that Kingdom build through practical, capacity building ways. We primarily focus on long-term relationships with development organisations providing ways out of poverty by creatively responding to the needs they identify themselves.

To show Christ through big and small acts of generosity that can help transform lives and provide hope that the future ahead is far better than what people leave behind. We can show that even in the midst of hardship, people care and more importantly, God cares.

To access funds for global projects

Funding applications open once every 1-2 years.
Selection criteria for funding for global projects:
  1. A focus on long term relationships.
  2. A desire to do no harm.
  3. A values-match between your project and those of Westcity.
  4. Good stewardship of resources.
  5. A focus on indigenous and local solutions.
  6. Existing Westcity relational connection with agencies/individuals.
  7. Clarity as to how this project will engage the Church? We are looking for projects that we can connect with.
There is a funding proposal proforma which guides applicants through the responses to these criteria and follows a community development structure. Essentially, we want to build long term relationships providing reconstruction and development where God grows and shapes us as a community as we help others.

Common Purse 2025 – Thank you Westcity!

In June 2025, we raised $48,701 for the Common Purse. So far, the total funds raised since this project commenced in June 2018 is $329, 597.
June 2025 church services were packed full of sharing some of the many simple yet transformational ways the Common Purse brings love and justice and peace and joy both here in Perth and around the world.
The team look forward to sharing more ways our purse funds are, in our Westcity Way, helping us to live the ‘Go of Christ’.  May we never tire of it!

3. One Extra Option for Regular Giving to Westcity

You Choose: Give to a Specific Church Project

In response to our church community’s suggestions, we have set up a way for you to nominate which project or ministry at Westcity, that your regular giving is allocated to.

Give regularly, via recurring monthly on-line bank transfers from your bank to our church bank account or via one-off donation(s). All you need to do is specify in the transfer description which of these options you would like the funds to be allocated to.

  1. Discipleship & Spiritual Formation ($2,000 – $10,000)
  2. Community Life (e.g. Carol’s Community Event $500 – $15,000)
  3. Children & Youth ($5,000 – $15,000)
  4. Next Generation Leadership ($5,000)
  5. Projects (e.g. Break-out areas and sound proofing $2,000)

We will report back to you, how your funds have been spent, via:

– the presentation of our church budget each year which outlines where the finances are spent

– our Town Hall Meetings (2 times / year)
